We must be careful not to stigmatize sexual behaviors that are uncommon yet consensual, adult and non-addictive. However, the desire of many sex addicts to incorporate their problematic sexual behavior into their primary relationships brings up special challenges. How do we weigh free sexual expression with relationship commitments? Will the behavior continue to be addictive once the secrecy is removed?
There are not absolute answers, but we should always take our addictions seriously and avoid the temptation to play matters close to the line.
